A Piece In Progress

Rough Copy of a Story

"I woke up with the worst case of cramps. Went to the bathroom and low and behold… aunt flow. I went back to bed and turned on the boobtube to watch Martha Stewart with Duke. It started to rain so I decided to lay in bed for a little longer, I watched a soup opera. The rain got heavy and I looked outside to see that the rain spout wasn’t attached to the house… so I ran outside in my pajamas with my umbrella and put it on. Our basement floods. When I got back inside it started raining even harder along with strong winds, looked like a hurricane outside.

Lunch time came around so I made some veg dip and ate it up with stale crackers. Followed by applesauce, almond french vanilla granola. The sun finally came out… and stayed out. Packed up my backpack and went to the bank. Eric and Nicolai were sitting outside when I left the house. Damn wind almost knocked me off my bike and I ended up having to ride through a huge puddle, about 5 inches deep, came up to my pedals. Saw my cousin-in-law at the bank. Almost left without my money.

When I got home Eric and Nicolai were packing up the van for there show in Appleton. Went to my room to cool off. ¾ of the band were talking in living room. Nicolai doing scissor kicks in the living room yelling “are you guys ready?!” imitating a front man from another band. Later went into the kitchen for food where the guys were talking about random stuff. Eric pointed at Nicolai’s shirt “That brain is way too big for that skull”… Nicolai in response. “That’s why its Bad Brains…” motions hand to head, “fuck this brain!” The band turned into a whole and left for there show.

Put on Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, ate a nectarine. Watched 15 minutes then headed over to my parents house to hang out. Watched Political Discussions and ate some ramen salad with my dad. Uncle Tom, Aunt Becky and Aidan stopped by. Aidan bounced off the walls and played with Duke. Me and Duke walked home. The house was empty and extremely warm when we got back. Finished up Indiana. During, Duke spotted someone on our back porch and started barking like crazy. I went to the back door and found nothing but a stop sign post laying on the porch. Damn kids. Afterward put in James and the Giant peach… and some kids from down the street attempted to pull a kid on skis with a bike."

An Excerpt. A Heavy Heart.

Looking Back: August 1st, 2006

"I know for sure he was wearing his carhartts and Fifteen hat. I remember letting him in the house. I remember randomly picking out a movie with him in the basement. One that we agreed to watch even though we were both hesitant wanting to do so. I remember awkwardly sitting next to him, both of us moving little by little trying to get closer. Then my head meeting his shoulder. Cracking jokes on how every single celebrity known to man was showing up in the movie.

I remember how his hand felt running threw my hair as my head lay in his lap. Myself nodding off to sleep as we sit on the loveseat that we dragged from the other side of the room, so we wouldn’t have to sit in separate chairs. He caught me before I fell asleep, told me he was going to go home. I held on to him, hoping that if I held on to him hard enough he wouldn’t be able to leave. Obviously he could. We got up. I turned off the TV and surround sound and met him in the middle of the room. We embraced. It made my knees weak, I had an over powering feeling of vulnerability and calmness come over me. Something I hadn’t felt with anyone else. And it was at that exact moment, I fell hard. The next thing I know I was looking up at him and seconds later his pierced lips met mine."

Where to Start?

I've had the idea of putting a graphic novel together in the back of my head for about a year now. I've finally started to work on it. Progress is slow but it's coming together. I'm writing a lot more than I thought I was going to write. My first idea was to do a ton of drawings and then throw in some captions, now it seems the exact opposite. Drawings are scarce so far. I'm thinking though that it's because I'm not really confident in my drawing anymore. I mean my drawing techniques aren't as good as they used to be, but when you become a lazy wreck like myself I guess it's unavoidable.

Anyways. What I'm doing right now...
I'm sitting at my parents' house, because the computer at my house doesn't work right. I was smart enough to change certain settings on it therefore leaving me unable to steal wireless from the neighbors. I'm also here because I got bored with sitting in my underwear, watching TV shows via DVD at home. I didn't get out of bed until 9pm, I woke up at 12:30 or so, only getting out of bed for food and pee breaks. Told you I was a lazy wreck.

Okay, so back to novel news. I've decided that, in addition to writing everyday in June, I'd continue the concept throughout August. So far August has started out with at least one decent story. Which was Friday's trip to Milwaukee. I've got my hopes up for August, there's a good amount of things going on to write about. Let's just hope I participate in those said activities.

So I think this is it for an update. Though I'm not a bit tired, pretty much strung out on caffeine, I'm gonna head home for some shut-eye.
